ThumbNailer - Fast and flexible thumbnail creating tool
The less functions a program has, the less chances that something will go wrong. When you take a look at ThumbNailer, you'll think that it won't do much, but that's where you're wrong. It's a tool for creating thumbnails and image galleries. That's its only function, but it does it great.
You won't encounter anything out of the ordinary when getting this tool. The installation kit is 4.16 Mb large and the wizard will have it up and running in under a minute. Although it's not free, the trial version won't bug you in any way with messages restrictions or watermarks on the results. You can use ThumbNailer normally for 14 days.
The interface is nothing much to look at. It's a small window where you can select a source and destination, make a few output settings related to resizing method and output format and finally hit the Start button, found on the window's bottom side.
There are a few other buttons that hide other features. Most of them, when clicked, will drop down a menu with certain options. For example, the preview button hides a menu where you can choose to show the actual thumbnail preview or make some settings in this regard. Under the Wizards button you'll find quite the brotherhood of wizards you can use in order to create basic or advanced thumbnails, thumbnails with basic HTML and others. The Profile button can be used to save, load or create a new thumbnail creation profile.
If you think there's no need to save a profile, think again. Due to the More Options button, you'll see that there's a lot more than meets the eye with ThumNailer. For such a small interface, with one specific purpose, the program features a very, very broad range of settings you can make. Just click the More Options button and see for yourself. You'll need a few good minutes to study all the options. It's a standard settings panel with a tree like navigation pane on the left and the actual settings on the right. The are no less than 16 items in the navigation pane and some of them even have sub and sub-sub-items. These include output naming styles, source options, image enhancement, and many more. Now that's flexibility.
Pros:
Apart from the fact that the process of creating thumbnails is fast, ThumNailer hides a whole truckload of settings you can make.
Cons:
Except for the short trail period, there's nothing to complain about.
TumbNailer knows one thing and it knows it very well. You can use it to create thumbnails with maximum speed and flexibility.
